This is the end. The end of the year, that is, and there seems to be no slowing down this month. I was really looking forward to some quiet catch up time at my desk, but that hasn’t been the case. What’s with all the shows?! I love live shows. It’s my job, it’s required and luckily, living in LA makes it that much easier to see any band (big or small) on a weekly basis. Here are a few shows that we are presenting to get excited about:

The Barr Brothers at the Troubadour on Tuesday, December 12, 2017

Destroyer at The Regent on Friday, January 12, 2018

Giraffage at The Fonda on Wednesday, January 24, 2018

Amber Mark at The Echo on Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Khruangbin at the Lodge Room on Saturday, March 24, 2018

Now onto New Year’s Eve. You either love it or you hate it. The going out, the getting gussied up, the champagne, the midnight kiss – it’s fun! And we’ve got the best kind of party to recommend to you – Prohibition New Year’s Eve at Union Station.

Here’s a description of the night from the organizers of the event:

“For its 6th year, Prohibition NYE will return to the majestic Ticket Concourse at Union Station with the excitement and glamour of the Roaring Twenties. Experience theatrical burlesque, live jazz ensembles, a headlining DJ Set from GOLDROOM, and a premium open bar featuring champagne and specialty cocktails.”

Yeah, you read that right, o-p-e-n bar. Let’s get excited for the end of 2017 and toast to a better 2018!

This Sunday during Gary Calamar’s show (6pm PT) we’ll be giving away tickets to see Grizzly Bear (sold out) at the Wiltern. So Merry Christmas to you if you win those tickets!

*If you want to know what other giveaways we have scheduled every day of the year, follow me on Twitter (@acherrymary) for daily updates. I’m fun.

And now your 15 day music planner via our KCRW Presents show calendar:

Friday, December 8, James Blake at the Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian – sold out!

Saturday, December 9, James Blake at the Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian – sold out!

Sunday, December 10, James Blake at the Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian – sold out!

Tuesday, December 12, The Barr Brothers at the Troubadour

Sunday, December 31, Prohibition NYE at Union Station

See you back here in 2018!
