Exploration of folkloric rhythms of the Americas mixed with modern genres of music never grows old…and these sounds never cease to amaze me (when done right).

Today I introduce you to Argentinian musician & producer Mati Zundel, whose current project, Lagartijeando, has me enraptured.

He’s put together traditional Andean music and instruments with chill downtempo electronic beats to create a very appealing sound. His new album El Gran Poder is slated for release on 3/31 via Wonderwheel. Today we bring you the first video from this new project, which appears to be a part of a larger movement of global electronic music in Latin America.

If you’re a fan of Chancha via Circuito or Dengue! Dengue! Dengue!, definitely recommend you check out more of Lagartijeando’s Andean/Patagonian inspired grooves.
