We love SXSW because it gives us a chance to present some of the artists we think are most promising at our showcases in Austin each year.

KCRW’s official SXSW showcases feature an interesting mix of artists from around the world – from Paris to New Zealand — that have become Morning Becomes Eclectic favorites.

Exciting, young newcomers like Cloves (Melbourne), Declan McKenna (London), and Lapsley (Liverpool) are in their teens and already making waves.

Cloves impressed us with her stunning, heartfelt, stripped down songs.

Lapsley pairs minimal yet striking electronic production with achingly beautiful vocals. Her self-produced debut will be out on XL Recordings on March 4.

Declan McKenna won the Glastonbury Emerging Competition and is currently on the road in the UK and France supporting Lisbon, Foals and Mystery Jets. His SXSW performances will be among the first-ever shows in the U.S.

Sofi Tukker grabbed our attention with their weirdly wondeful pop single “Drinkee”. The New York duo has just finished their debut EP, Soft Animals, and we fully expect to see a dance party during their set.

Marlon Williams (New Zealand) is a recent MBE discovery that we are very excited about. His evocative voice and storytelling made us fast fans. He’s a former choir boy from New Zealand who plays Americana music and just released his debut album.

Joon Moon (Paris) is a duo featuring Julien Decoret, a producer with connections to the Nouvelle Vague camp, and Krystle Warren, a smoky-voiced singer from Kansas City. Together they have enchanted listeners with their debut EP, Chess, and captured our attention with the infectious track “Help Me.”

Eliot Sumner (London) is joining us from across the pond for a dark, sexy and mysterious set.

White Denim (Austin) and Ra Ra Riot (Syracuse) always deliver in their live shows and both have excellent new albums.

Both showcases are open to folks with official SXSW badges and wristbands. The shows are always packed so get there early and come hang with us!
