Laura Marling’s debut appearance on MBE in 2010 was a session I will never forget. We were all struck by this young (20 years old), blond-haired girl seated solo in the middle of the room armed with nothing but a guitar and her voice.

She was so powerful that all of us were silent and in awe.

That album catapulted her into the public eye as a singer-songwriter to watch and, when she returned to our studio behind her sophomore album in May 2013, she didn’t disappoint.

Laura included a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Kathy’s Song” from THEIR sophomore album “Sounds of Silence”.

A British teenager named Kathy Chitty inspired a young Paul Simon to write the song immortalizing their romance and helping launch his career as one of the greatest American songwriters.

Laura’s version is a bit more low key, as is her style, but it’s a beautiful rendition.

I had the great pleasure of watching Laura play a handful of new songs in an intimate setting a few weeks ago and I’m happy to announce the British folk singer is as witty and incisive as ever.

We’re offering the first single, “Short Movie”, as Today’s Top Tune which means you can download it for free until Midnight tonight!
