SBTRKT is a London-based music producer who has been steadily building his fan base over the last 18 months or so.
Though he’s honed his music skills under different guises, he prefers to keep his identity secret, which allows him to be judged on the music alone. He wears a mask on stage and in interviews that reveals only his eyes.
With tight production values and some great song writing skills, SBTRKT is a rising star here in the UK, gaining support from the underground that has started to tip out into the wide domain.
His more well-known tracks on the underground scene, including “Living Like I Do”, include the vocals of a talented singer named Sampha.
His live DJ sets consist of SBTRKT, donning his mask, on stage with a laptop and a plethora of pads and knobs, and Sampha armed with a microphone. Together, the duo pull off a well-crafted set of sweet melodies and banging beats.
SBTRKT’s new album is imminent and has already been received with a rapturous response and will be available on the Young Turks imprint soon.
For now, check this one, featuring Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano on vocals.
