Luisa Maita Live on KCRW

Written by

Brazilian singer Luisa Maita stopped by KCRW’s studio on her first ever visit to the United States. She sang songs about her love of Sao Paulo, teenage passion, and even threw in a brand new track, “Ole Ole.”

She grew up in a musical family and is one of three sisters named after songs by Antonio Carlos Jobim, her father’s favorite bossa nova musician. The rich musical tradition of her country, particularly in bossa nova and samba, is alive in her music and she gives it a seductive and modern spin.

Our favorite off her recent album “Lero Lero” has been “Alento” and it was a highlight during this morning’s performance. Find the full set online here
