Sometimes you listen to a song and, within 10 seconds, you know you’re hearing something special.

That’s how it was the first time I heard Michael Kiwanuka. His voice is simple awe-inspiring—warm, soulful and wise. It’s classic soul, and he’s often compared to the likes of Otis Redding and Bill Withers.

He’s young – and very sweet – and its really incredible to be able to watch such a talented artist this early in their career. It’s an honor, really.

The singer made his U.S. live radio debut on KCRW last weekend with Chris Douridas and you can hear it now in the archives, including our favorite “Tell Me A Tale”.

The singer from North London has a new EP due January 1st, 2012, and his full length debut, Home Again, is due March 27th, 2012.

Michael Kiwanuka Live on KCRW Set List:

“Tell Me a Tale”

“I’m Getting Ready”

“Any Day Will Do Fine”

“I Won’t Lie”

“Home Again”
