Aussie trio Middle Kids have had a good run this year. In February they released a tight and catchy 6 song EP, they’ve performed countless shows around the world (including one for KCRW @ SXSW and stopping by Morning Becomes Eclectic) and it seems they’re just getting started.

Most recently, the band is featured on the new Amazon Originals Acoustics Playlist (dropping 9/8 with Gabriel Garzón-Montano, Beach Slang, Ella Vos and more), covering the late 90’s pop-punk mega hit “All the Small Things.” While Middle Kids taking on Blink 182 might hold you in your tracks, they truly reworked the song to fit the mold of a slow rolling country ballad (which is right in their wheelhouse).

Here’s the band on the track:

“We don’t play covers in our live set, but we are interested in the infinite discovery of what makes a ‘great’ song. In this recording, we were attempting to re-imagine a pop-punk classic as a sad country ballad. We kept the beautiful words and the melody, but changed instrumentation to bring out different emotion.”

Check out the premiere of this cover and see Middle Kids when they come through Los Angeles @ the Teragram Ballroom, 9/28.
