Los Angeles-based painter Alexandra Grant had just launched her exhibition “Bodies” at the Honor Fraser Gallery when she dropped by KCRW to talk to Anthony Valadez about the five songs that have inspired her throughout her life as part of KCRW’s Guest DJ Project. In fact, she told us narrowing down her song list was a welcome distraction from the stress of getting her exhibit together.
Aside from being an excellent DJ, Anthony is also a visual artist and the two of them definitely hit it off. She even tried on some of his “bling.”
One of the most interesting parts of their conversation was a discussion about artist insecurity and self-doubt. It all revolved around her choice of rapper Fat Lip’s “What’s Up Fat Lip?”
