As a music addict, I would say the things that get me most excited, besides new music, are cover songs and remixes. Remixes in particular really make me smile.

Today, we bring you the premiere of a brand new remix by producer/composer Mark de Clive-Lowe.

Mark de Clive-Lowe takes this classic from the FANIA catalogue circa 1968 and turns it into a lounge-filled, chill-out track. Using his signature eclectic sound that mashes jazz and dance music, he’s transformed a mid tempo New York Salsa into a hip, head bobbing, groove that is sure to be an asset to any world beat DJ.

This remix will be part of a remix EP called Berengue Remixed that also features 2 other classic FANIA songs reworked by Mark de Clive-Lowe.

It is also part of a larger effort by FANIA to update their catalogue with re-works and remixes. FANIA for the uninitiated was the premier label for all things Salsa whose roster included greats like Willie Colon, Celia Cruz, Bobby Valentín, Rubén Blades, & Héctor Lavoe.

With these being some of the first remixes to see the light of day from this massive catalogue project, I believe I will be smiling constantly all year.

Mark de Clive-Lowe will be performing in LA alongside Cut Chemist for the EP release partyon the 29th of January.
