Pan Caliente Track Premiere: Centavrvs – “Angel Tropical”

Centavrvs is a project that formed in Mexico City around 2010 and sought to reinterpret regional Mexican music with electronica experimentation.

Their 2014 full length release achieved this goal and cemented them as a leader in the new wave of Musica Indie bands melding genres and traditional styles.

This Friday, March 16th, their highly anticipated album Somos Uno, produced by the legendary Argentine producer Tweety Gonzalez, will be released after months of being teased by the catchy first single, “El Punto Final.”

As the band heads to SXSW for 3 high profile showcases, they have given us the honor of premiering a single from their forthcoming album.

“Angel Tropical,” much like their new album expands the band’s sound to encompass more South American rhythms.

“Without  a doubt, this is our most Caribbean sounding track. The harmony was inspired while I had an artist residency in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 2015,” said Demian Galvez of the band, “then during the production of the record, we added some marimbas and lambada type rhythms reminiscent of the 90s, as well as a bit of electric guitar rooted in Afrobeat riffs.”
