KCRW was an early supporter of R&B diva Janelle Monae around the release of her first EP and the soon-to-be superstar returned the favor by performing as part of the station’s Berkeley Street Sessions – a series of intimate shows performed in front of a small audience and taped for broadcast.
Every single person in the room was charmed by the artist – her bold and eye-catching style, her incredible voice, and the ambitious and intriguing lyrical web she weaves through her songs. She puts on a show like no other and her ambitious sophomore album “The ArchAndroid” is sure to introduce her to a much larger audience. We’re proud to support her unique artistry and you can hear the session live on Morning Becomes Eclectic on July 2, including an interview hosted by Jason Bentley.
