KCRW DJs Anthony Valadez and Raul Campos hosted a free evening of music at Grand Performances on Saturday and Anthony reports back from the scene!
All three acts on the bill represented a different take on Latin music. Ceci Bastida had an amazing band and a sound that was futuristic yet in the spirit of traditional hip hop. Mr Vallenato got the dance floor moving with some beautiful, traditional cumbia. Finally, Nortec Collective presents: Bostich & Fussible represented the techno/sample based sounds of Latin music!
I had a blast hosting along side Raul Campos. Later in the night we were joined by Wil Dog of Ozomatli who stressed the importance of the community coming together to support the arts.
It was nice to see so many different shades of LA come out and enjoy such a wonderful evening with great music! Hope to see you at an event soon.
