Cut Copy crowd by Shaun Regan

Australia’s Cut Copy have earned their place as one of the best live bands out there right now – all without flashy displays, pyrotechnics or mind boggling light arrangements. Just great songs. Each so hook-y and danceable, it’s simply hard to stand still.

The band performed at a venue about 7 times smaller than they would normally play in New York – Le Poisson Rouge – to help KCRW launch a new collaboration with NPR Music around our dance show Metropolis. And dance the crowd did!

There were lines around the block an hour before the doors even opened.

These lovely ladies were the first in line and had been there an hour and a half in the brisk November chill.

It was clearly worth it as the whole crowd was ecstatic about seeing them in this small space, just hours after they left the stage at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Our own Jason Bentley opened the show with a DJ set before the band launched into the title track of their new album, “Free Your Mind”, to kick things off.

But they threw in crowd pleasers from their last disc “Zonoscope” as well – “Where I’m Going” and “Take Me Over” included. They ended it with “Lights & Music”, the track that introduced many of us to the band.

Check out the tracklist and make sure to catch them live as soon as you can!
