His son Femi Morning Becomes Eclecticrecently performed on and Seun comes to town next week for a free show at Grand Performances in Downtown LA, sponsored by KCRW and hosted by DJ Garth Trinidad.

Seun – Kuti Mr Big Thief by cartell

Seun is considered the torchbearer and soul-incarnate of Fela and will be bringing the famous Egypt 80 Band for an evening of funky, soulful, driving African rhythms. He is celebrating the release of his latest album,”From Africa with Fury: Rise”, which has been among the most played albums here at the station for weeks.

p.s.: NPR’s Banning Eyre did a fascinating story on the sytlistic differences between Femi and Seun.
