Palm Springs is great. Like really, weirdly great. And greatly weird.

Drive in and on all sides you’re surrounded for miles by Earth so scorched, it could be Mars or the landscape from The Flintstones.

This most unforgiving wasteland is then dotted with multi-million dollar mid-century modern homes that are 80% glass with nothing but chairs that look like they were pooped out by iMacs in them. Kind of like The Jetsons. But unlike The Jetsons, people never actually sit in those gloopy chairs because they’re too busy (read: wasted) luxuriating (read: turning into bacon) in extravagant pools that quite literally feel like Heaven.

If you are so inclined to this kind of extravagance, but with a kick. A Drum. Some Bass. That House Music. And a somewhat churlish, half-naked, super-sexy throb of humanity. Freaking. By the pool…might I suggest, Splash House?

This weekend marks the second weekend of the event which happens twice per summer in Palm Springs for the last 3 years. The event has previously featured a grip of KCRW favorites…everyone from Cut Copy and Jagwar Ma to Poolside to our very own Music Director Jason Bentley.

In keeping with that fine tradition, this weekend features a couple of notable acts including folks I’ve personally been suuuuper stoked on, right here on this very blog over the last couple of years; Vincente Sanfuentes, Juan Maclean, DJDS, Marcus Marr and Bondax.

Sanfuentes plays at 1 at the Saguaro on Saturday.

Juan Maclean plays at 4 at the Riviera on Sunday.

DJDS plays at 5 at the Riviera on Sunday.

Marcus Marr plays at 3:45 at the Saguaro on Sunday.

Bondax plays at 6:45 at the Saguaro on Sunday.
