T. Hardy Morris — “Lucky” (Live at Traveler’s Rest — Places In Peril)

Written by

Athens-bases artist T. Hardy Morris is set to release his solo debut “Audition Tapes” in late July.

We featured his track “Lucky” as part of our Today’s Top Tune series (which you should totally subscribe to) but there is an interesting back story to the accompanying video that’s worth investigating a bit more.

Inspired by The Georgia Trust For Historic Preservation’s “Places In Peril” list,  T. Hardy Morris and filmmaker Jason Thrasher traveled to historic sites in Georgia threatened by demolition and neglect to film live performance videos of each song on of “Audition Tapes”

In the video for “Lucky,” Morris and Thrasher settled on Travelers Rest which was constructed in 1815 by James Rutherford Wyly as an inn for travelers on the historic Unicoi Turnpike. However,  due to budget cutbacks, the Department of Natural Resources is only able to open the site once a month which allows for limited use and decreased tourism.
