As you might imagine, it is a difficult and sometimes daunting task to narrow down our Top Ten lists every year. Each DJ has their own criteria as to why certain albums make the list and others do not. No matter what one’s reasoning is, inevitably, deserving albums are left out. So, I’ve compiled a list of the Top Ten Most Slept On Albums of 2018.

I intentionally waited to submit this list until after everyone’s Best Of lists were published (it’s a safe bet that if one of us DJs declared an album worthy of our Top Ten, then it has not been slept on). As a consequence, none of the following albums are on anyone’s lists. By the way, there’s something in here for everyone, so check out the list and tracks below.

1) Jorja Smith – Lost & Found (FAMM)

– A modern version of a classic R&B album

2) Damien Jurado – The Horizon Just Laughed (Secretly Canadian)

– An excellent breezy folk-pop album with pretty melodies and great song writing

3) Black Milk – FEVER (Mass Appeal)

– Solid lyrics, great production. One of the best hip hop albums of the year

4) Captain Planet – Mystery Trip Vol. II (Bastard Jazz Recordings)

– From India to South America and everywhere in-between, a fun reinterpretation of world music

5) Young Gun Silver Fox – AM Waves (Monty Music)

– A nostalgic throwback to late 70s pop and rock & roll

6) Various Artists – The Abkhaz Of Caucasus (Shango Records)

Perfect for late nights in Tulum and sunrises on the Playa

7) White Denim – Performance (City Slang)

– Good ol’ fashioned, southern influenced rock n’roll

8) Delilah Holliday – Lady Luck Vol. 1 (Self Release)

– 2018’s answer to Amy Winehouse

9) TEYMORI – Teymori (Self Release)

– A fusion of deep house and world rhythms

10) Underground System – What Are You (Soul Clap Records)

– David Byrne meets Soulwax
