It’s been almost a year since the brothers Pacheco decided to end their on-the-rise, psychedelic cumbia outfit, Thee Commons, and embark on a different musical journey. The result was Tropa Magica, a seven-piece band with hints of surf rock, a bit of twang, and a whole lot of saxophone.
Today we premiere their latest summer-themed single for these dog days of summer. It’s got surf rock vibes with the unmistakable vocal and drums of David & Rene Pacheco respectively.
The track was recorded with Eddie Rivas, who’s worked with bands like Chicano Batman, El Haru-Kuroi and MacSabbath, as part of his summer youth workshop where select students get a chance to record and produce real bands in his studio.
“Doña Verano” is out on all platforms this Friday, August 31st.
