From KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad:

I have a penchant for rock music that incorporates heavy percussion, interesting melody and chord changes, hushed methods of electronic programming and effects, and girls at the helm.

As a lover of music, I’ve always loved what the ladies bring to the table. There are certain emotional spirits that women are able to conjure more easily than men (no disrespect to former members Josh and David).

I call it lady voodoo.

Warpaint’s lady voodoo has been apparent since their formation in 2004. Since then, they’ve released an EP courtesy of Manimal Vinyl called “Exquisite Corpse“, just dropped a new full length titled “Fool” on Rough Trade, and have been touring extensively, opening for the likes of The XX, etc.

This blurb is just a shout of recognition from the KCRW camp to let you know to look out for Warpaint. They’re smokin’ hot and we believe they’re destined for big things.

Manimal was kind enough to let us stream Warpaint’s cover of “Ashes to Ashes,” from “We Were So Turned On: A Tribute to David Bowie on Manimal for the benefit of War Child.
