So, yeah… missed my post yesterday. My wife had the car seat in her car, so I was stranded at home with the rugger. The rigors of parenthood…
At any rate, I dumped her off at the sitter today so I could go to the post office! And take a nap. And eat some pizza. But not necessarily in that order.
Here’s what was waiting for me today.
1) Neon Indian “Mind Ctrl: Psychic Chasms Possessed” – special package includes their brilliant album along with nine bonus remixes.
2) Various Artists “Sound Of Siam: Leftfield Luk Thung Thailand 64-75” – I’ve got so much thai funk my eyeballs are floating, but more is always welcome. I heard this one twice over the weekend, played by both Liza Richardson and Tom Schnabel. I was hoping I’d find it in the box today.
3) Shapers 7″ and LP – I made their single Virginia Reel 7″ of the Week a couple weeks ago, and they were kind enough to send the physical copy, along with their debut LP. Bonus!
Honorable mentions include a package from the label Mexican Summer, which included three top notch releases from this year. 2010 has been a really great year for music.
Filling in for Gary Calamar this Sunday night 12/12, 9p-12a. I’ll be playing more of the best from 2010.
Thanks for listening.
