I'll never forget coming upon a young KT Tunstall performing on late night TV years ago, this petite Scottish girl performing as a one-woman band; playing guitar, triggering samples, and live percussion in a storm of musical coordination. There was a folky innocence to her that was inspiring, and I remember staving off sleep to pay closer attention.
On her third full-length studio album Tiger Suit , we hear a matured artist, confidently exploring a range of pop with an alt-folk bent. Her voice is rich and soulful, mixed front and center. Her arrangements are tastefully pop without becoming too sweet. One still has the sense that she is a singular dynamo of musicality, but with a seasoned command of lyric and instrument. This new album reveals her as supremely confident with her studio arsenal. Highlights include the buoyant workout "Fade Like A Shadow" and the emotionally frayed "Difficulty,” and it’s a record that is sure to appeal to fans old and new.-- Jason Bentley, KCRW Music Director and host of Morning Becomes Eclectic
Tiger Suit will be available On-Demand from September 27 through October 26, 2010. The album will be released October 5, 2008
