GGG in China and the US

Two LA based composers have been commissioned to write pieces for the Summer Olympics in Beijing.
George Sarah, known for his ‘electronic Chamber Music’,  has  written a suite for a giant marionette show, choreographed and designed by LA based ‘Poetic/Kinetic’. It will be performed 4 times a day at The Olympic Park – carefully scheduled between Olympic games coverage!


Known for his work on major filmsr, composer Jeff Rona  has composed “Songs of the Sea: The Regatta Suite” at the invitation of the International Olympics Committee and the City of Qingdao,host city of the 2008 Olympics Regatta. Words for the piece were written by poet David Whyte and singer/songwriter Lisa Gerrard  of Dead Can Dance fame.

From China we go to the US for All Points West at Liberty State Park, named after Central Railroad Station - once  the gateway for immigrants heading west across the US in pursuit of the American Dream.
All Points West has a great line up that includes Radiohead, Jack Johnson, Underworld, Kings of Leon, Amadou & Mariam and Duffy.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Musikfest in Bethlehem PA–what began as a grass roots music based gathering in 1984 has grown to 10 days of music  to suit all tastes – and I mean all tastes ☺
