Global Gigging for the Holidays

Hosted by

Hi this is Gemma Dempsey and  this week the Global gig guide covers all terrains from the mountains of the US for The Ski Tour , the sunny outdoors of New Zealand and Australia for Big Day Out , and finally to a combination of the two at  Fatboy Slim’s Big Beach Boutique on a chilly seafront in Fatboy’s home town of Brighton England.

2007 sees the first Ski Tour taking place in Sun Valley Idaho, Breckenridge and Aspen in Colorado, and Squaw Valley in California.

Seeking to combine a professional ski event  with a music festival, the music element will be supplied by Michael Franti and Spearhead, Blackalicious, and the Wailers amongst others. A huge heated pavilion will be erected to house the music events, a Film Festival and fashion shows. So whether you like your fun on the piste off, a good time seems guaranteed for all.

Big Day Out in New Zealand and Australia started fifteen years ago to a combined crowd of 9,000. It now boasts considerably more
With fans from all over the world coming to hear an amazing line up such as The Killers, Muse, Peaches, diplo, and The Presets. Its summer in the southern hemisphere so bring plenty of water & sunscreen and so you can rock out rather than pass out!

I expect there to be much soul surfing and gangster tripping in Brighton on New Years Day as local hero and Superstar DJ Fatboy Slim takes to the decks for Big Beach boutique 3. Having attracted  250,000 fans in 2002, the police insisted on a ticketed event this time - the lucky 20,000 will be braving the elements 3-8pm on January 1st-  my advice – wear thermals and don’t stop dancing!

That’s it for this weeks Global Gig Guide– check back with us next week for more information on global gigging
