Located in the stunning Gorge amphitheatre in Washington State, the Sasquatch Music Festival also has a spectacular line up featuring R.E.M, M.I.A, Fleet Foxes, The Cure, Rogue Wave and a debut of The Flaming Lips ‘Christmas on Mars’ which is bound to be a lot of fun to hear/watch.

Sasquatch takes place over Memorial Day holiday weekend – as does the next event on the Global Gig Guide list, Lightning in a Bottle…

Lightning in a Bottle expands to 4 days this year and features West Indian Girl, Govinda, Stanton Warriors , Adam Freeland and KCRW ‘s Jeremy Sole. Priding itself on being powered almost exclusively by solar power and bio diesal, the festival also has workshops, cool art and design features and an eco fashion show.

And lastly to Brighton for The Great Escape – named in part due to the exodus of music lovers from London to this seaside town . Its referred to by some as the SXSW of the UK due to the amount of

new and established artists on the bill – The Wombats, The Ting Tings, Black Lips and Fugiya and Miyagi.

This year the Great Escape has teamed up with Music Export Norway to feature some of their new artists such as Ida Maria, The Lionheart Brothers and Ungdomskulen. The event aims to include young music fans as well as those wanting to network so there are various tickets available depending on your musical desires. See the website for full details.
