KCRW’s Global Beat is a series highlighting emerging artists from around the world. Our second season takes us to México, hosted by KCRW DJ Raul Campos alongside our curators, Mexico City DJ and music supervisor Junf, director of Festival NRMAL Moni Saldaña, and NPR’s Betto Arcos.

The air is finally cooling down, the leaves are changing colors, it’s finally time to break out your sweaters… just kidding. We live in Southern California. Though this week saw temps in the 90s in LA, we’ve still got a batch of seasonally-appropriate new songs out of México to add to your fall playlist. Join DJ Raul Campos and guest host Moni Saldaña as they introduce some of the country’s finest genre-bending musical newcomers.

Whether you’re nostalgic for 2010s indie, craving some funky experimental pop, or want to nod along to something in between, this episode has a track for you. Grab your pumpkin-spiced (or iced) beverage of choice and relax into what’s new and now in Mexican music.

Parque de Cometas- “Felpa

“Felpa” is a sweet and sultry delight infused with notes of psychedelia and fuzz-rock. Grab a dance partner and groove out to this track’s irresistible and joyful beat. Still can’t get enough? Neither can we, so join Sgt. Papers and Parque de Cometas as they continue the Global Beat Live party Nov. 17t at the Paramount Theater. More info can be found here.

Pepe Pecas - “Mathilde

Named after a classic Mexican tongue twister, Pepe Pecas is a mystical musical character emerging from Mexico City, best described as "your favorite freak". Enjoy this swirling, experimental post-pop track that’s perfect for getting lost in an afternoon daydream.
