Rogê: KCRW Live from HQ
Intimate performances, fresh sounds, and candid conversations with a view.
Brazilian troubadour Rogê sets the Annenberg Performance Studio aglow with a cosmically tropical set of future samba-soul classics. The recent LA transplant regales us with stripped down takes on songs from his 2023 LP Curyman, his first to be recorded stateside. Settle in for the generous spirit of Curyman cuts like “Pra Vida,” “Se Eu For Falar De Amor,” and album standout “Existe Uma Voz.”
KCRW’s resident expert in all things Brazil, Wyldeflower, hosts a freewheeling chat with the artist about everything from the virtues of spending every day on the beach eating açai bowls to the Portuguese concept of “saudade.” Saudade roughly translates to “longing and melancholy,” which Wyldeflower feels woven throughout the fabric of Rogê’s music. How lovely to be invited.
