KCRW and CAP UCLA proudly present an exclusive concert with South African vocalists Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

In early March, South African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo was en route to the U.S. to resume their tour, which had already been rescheduled due to the death of their founder, Joseph Shabalala. Then the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak forced them to cancel many performance dates. Except one: Ladysmith Black Mambazo chose to perform an entire concert at the University of California, Los Angeles. On stage before an empty Royce Hall, the group performed to an audience populated with three camera operators, a few staff and a modest crew.

Now, KCRW — in partnership with the Center for the Art of performance at UCLA — debuts that intimate concert for the first time, bringing the joyful music of South Africa to the world.
