We’ve been anticipating Wet Leg’s debut album for so long now that its place atop this week’s list was basically a foregone conclusion. The eponymous release meets the hype head on, and then promptly obliterates it through the course of a 36-minute, 12-song cycle. Its bratty-cool, post-punk influences are worn as full sleeve tattoos.

Somehow, amazingly enough, “Wet Leg” was not the only hotly-tipped project to drop this past week. According to our calculations, approximately 8.2 gajillion highly anticipated records came out, and we’ve been breathlessly trying to process all of them. Output from local heroes Syd, John Carroll Kirby, and The Linda Lindas are making the biggest splash so far, but what might the future hold? Watch this space.
