KCRW’s Top 30 chart: Aug. 14 – 20, 2023

Jungle’s Volcano holding tight to number one for the second week in a row is not a surprise… But, our previous 2023 record holder — Little Dragon’s Slugs Of Love — falling off of the list entirely from their seemingly permanent second place perch is something of a shock. C’est la vie. Little Dragon’s drop is Noname’s gain as Sundial races up the list. The rest of the rundown has been thoroughly shaken as well, so let’s get into it.

New and notable: Montreal dream pop maven MUNYA’s jaunty Jardin singles are causing quite a stir. LA post-punks Sextile are on hand to provide some acid (house) edge. And, aughts-folk impresario Sufjan Stevens has announced a new album — Javelin (due Oct. 6) — and he’s done so with the heart-rending, lullaby-esque single “So You Are Tired.” All this and more awaits on our Top 30 Spotify playlist
