KCRW’s Top 30: Brijean, Meridian Brothers, Little Dragon steadily advance

We’ve been waiting for one of our favorite local duos, Brijean, to top this list. Though last week’s champs Panda Bear and Sonic Boom maintain a slight lead with their LP “Reset” now out in the world, the ultra-fluid grooves of Brijean’s brand new full length “Angelo” are rapidly coursing upward.

Hot on Brijean’s très chic heels are Colombia’s Meridian Brothers. The love is multiplying for the pseudo-eponymous new album, “Meridian Brothers & El Grupo Renacimiento,” in which the band cosplays as a fictional 1970s salsa dura ensemble on a reunion tour. Plus, you’ll find brand new jams from Little Dragon, Broken Bells, and Eddie Chacon.
