It’s always fun to clock the wild swings of who’s up and who’s down week by week on this chart, but never discount the slow and steady approach. Tame Impala were conspicuously absent from our charts in the lead up to the release of their new EP “The Slow Rush — B-sides & Remixes,” but they gained a subtle (yet respectable) foothold last week at number five. This week, they easily secured the number two spot, beating out odds on favorite Robert Glasper with his hotly anticipated album “Black Radio III.”

As for the champion of this week, and most recent weeks, Toro y Moi? We’re now pretty much convinced that he’ll be our Helado Negro of 2022.
