We find ourselves experiencing one of those weeks where very little is shaking the top of the pops. Little Dragon still have KCRW DJs completely under their spell with all the Slugs of Love singles very much in play ahead of that album’s July 7 release date. Same goes for our most recent guest to appear at KCRW: Live From Apogee Studio, Arlo Parks. Her ‘90s-alt-tinged LP My Soft Machine remains a heavy favorite.
New and notable: Our 2021 Breakthrough baes Gabriels drop their funky-as-hell new single “Glory,” and with it the release date for part two of their debut album Angels & Queens (July 7 via Atlas Artists). Plus, jazz virtuoso Kassa Overall finally charts now that his third studio album ANIMALS is out in full; musical polymath Yussef Dayes tallies up spins (and excitement) with the announcement of a long-awaited debut solo LP — Black Classical Magic; and Mongolian minimalist Enji’s new single “Taivshral” is the source of much intrigue.
