KCRW’s Top 30: Toro y Moi reclaims the top, Adrian Quesada leaps ahead

Toro y Moi has handily reclaimed the number one spot for the seventh non-consecutive week as we near the halfway point of 2022, so it feels pretty safe to make an album of the year contender declaration. Granted, we’ve been saying this more or less since the first singles from “MAHAL” began to drop, but it sure does feel nice to be proven right.

Of course, this week’s chart is not without its share of shake-ups. Adrian Quesada finally dropped his eagerly awaited album “Boleros Psicodélicos,” and KCRW DJs responded with trademark enthusiasm. The Black Pumas co-founder has crafted an immersive homage to what he calls “the golden era of Latin American balada music.” We’re on a mission to ensure that you experience the album in all of its rich, psychedelic glory.
