Growing up under the constrictions facing South Africa’s Christian gay population, Nakhane ignites their new album Bastard Jargon with potent dancefloor numbers that suggest sex. “Tell Me Your Politik” features Moonchild Sanelly and the inimitable Nile Rogers, who also executive produced the album.
“Almost every song on it has some kind of wink towards sex,” says Nakhane. “It’s not necessarily a seductive, come to me, bedroom eyes kind of sex — it’s much more inquisitive, psychological sex.”
