President Elect Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States. How does our panel feel? Josh Barro is placing himself in the middle of the reaction spectrum -- not despondent but not blase either. Dahlia Lithwick says she's firmly in the "despondent" category. Rich Lowry says he's cautiously hopeful. And David Frum is all the way in "alarmed." As Donald Trump prepares for his transition to power, Democrats consider how much to try to compromise and how much to protest the administration and Republicans who control both the House and Senate.

We also discuss how Trump pulled out this surprise win. David Frum says the Left needs to stop worrying about offensive Halloween costumes. Dahlia Lithwick says we must not overlook that this was the first election after the Voting Rights Act of 2016. Internationally, what will happen now that Donald Trump has said NATO is obsolete?

Josh Barro (Business Insider) moderates from the Center. Dahlia Lithwick (Slate.com) is on the Left. Rich Lowry (National Review) is on the Right. David Frum (The Atlantic) is our special guest.
