Last week, the Huntington Beach City Council approved funding for a report that will study how the city can combat the inevitable: rising sea levels. This comes just weeks after the Newport Beach City Council did the same. In a famously conservative county, where global warming is still largely dismissed as liberal propaganda by politicians, the move by the majority-Republican city councils seems like a wake-up call to the inevitable. Can these councils save their cities from the sea while remaining good conservatives?
