In the wake of two mass shootings in Texas and Ohio, Angelenos today are thinking a whole lot about El Pasoans and Daytonians. What the public is coming to understand is that the shooter in El Paso was targeting immigrants. According to a four-page document that law enforcement officials are almost certain came from him, the shooter identifies immigrants coming to the U.S. as invaders and taking jobs from Americans of European decent. It’s a common trope among white nationalists and white supremacists.
