2nd Chance Soul Food Fish Fry, a casual restaurant in Ladera Heights, offers job opportunities to formerly incarcerated men and women who live in transitional housing.

The Echo Park Trash Club gathers a few times a month to help keep LA streets clean. They also serve homeless encampments, where they’ve had to spend time building trust with residents.

In the volunteer-run West Adams bookstore called All Power Books, neighbors receive food, clothes and community.
