CA’s Prop 1 narrowly passes to reform mental health spending

Two weeks after the March 5 primary election, voters barely approved Governor Gavin Newsom’s $6.4 billion mental health bond, Prop 1. 

Now local and state officials want to hit the ground running to build 10,000 mental health beds with a focus on in-patient treatment. But by restructuring the state’s mental health funding, local programs may see cuts.
