Good Money News, Hobby Lobby Fallout, and FB’s Big Experiment

The Obama Administration got some good economic news with the new jobs report: 6.1% unemployment and some 280,000 new jobs. But does that mean everything is fantastic for the economy? Robert Scheer says “the problem with the numbers is we don’t know how reliable they are…” Meanwhile at the Supreme Court, Dahlia Lithwick says the Hobby Lobby ruling “was no surprise.” But, she adds “this is a big and dramatic moment affording personhood to for-profit corporations.” Then the panel looks at Israel, where anger over the killing of three teenagers is prompting military action. Charles C.W.Cook says “if you’re Israel and you’re surrounded by people who want to kill you, you have to do unpleasant things.” And Facebook’s social experiments: the LRC panel weighs in on revelations the social media company was manipulating news feeds to gauge how users responded.

This week's panel includes Matt Miller, moderating from the Center. On the Left is Robert Scheer (TruthDig.com). Charles C.W. Cook (National Review) is on the Right. Dahlia Lithwick (Slate) is our Fabulous Fourth.
