There’s a movie in theaters right now called The Second Mother. It’s the story of middle-aged live-in housekeeper in an upscale Brazilian home. In the opening scene, she watches her employer’s young son swimming in their pool. You could mistake her for his loving mother. It’s a stark example of the strange relationship that exists with people who live in our houses and take care of our children.
