Hosted by

Turkey observed a national day of mourning Wednesday a day after a terrorist attack at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport killed dozens and injured hundreds of people. This latest attack has further shaken Turkey’s carefully-curated image in the region. The nation has long been a crossroads between Europe and the Middle East, and it has marketed itself as a liberal beacon among Islamic countries in its campaign for European Union membership. Turkey has been trying to get into the EU since 1987, and so far the EU has been lukewarm to the request.
