Calexico Police Under Federal Scrutiny

The police force of the California city of Calexico is under Justice Department scrutiny. It recently issued a scathing review of police in the border town, which is a major corridor for drug and immigrant smuggling, saying the department is in need of a complete overhaul. Meanwhile, former police chief Michael Bostic has filed a whistleblower lawsuit, alleging he was fired after revealing widespread corruption, drug trafficking and theft of evidence within his department to the FBI. Bostic also alleges that several police officers were spying on city officials and using the footage to bribe them.
