UCLA just held student government elections. But the big campaign issue wasn’t cafeteria food, student housing or smoking on campus; it was Israel. Activists asked all 30 student council candidates to sign a pledge swearing off educational trips sponsored by three pro-Israel lobbying groups. Seventeen of them did, and now the ones who didn’t say they’re being unfairly penalized.
