Los Angeles federal Judge Percy Anderson declared a mistrial Thursday in the trial of 29-year old James Sexton, a former LA County Sheriff’s Deputy accused in a wide-ranging probe linked to allegations of inmate abuse at jails. The jury apparently was evenly split, and there was no push or pull either way. Fred Shuster covered the story for City News Service, and spoke to KCRW's Steve Chiotakis. Also joining the Mixer is Los Angeles Times transit reporter Laura Nelson, who covered the Metropolitan transportation Board's vote this week to increase bus and rail fares by 25 cents beginning in September.
