Organized Labor, GOP in Showdown in Wisconsin

Hosted by

A showdown over bargaining rights for public employees has brought the legislature to a grinding halt in Wisconsin. Democratic Senators in Wisconsin are reportedly flying out of state to prevent a quorum that would let the Republican majority strip government workers of almost all collective bargaining rights. Wisconsin’s newly elected Republican Governor Scott Walker has declared political war on public workers, including the 98,000 members of the teachers union. The capitol in Madison is filled with thousands parents, teachers and children for a third day—in a protest that has forced schools to close in several cities.
