It's been 48 years since a young Martin Luther King, Jr. roused the nation with his I Have a Dream speech, he promised, "With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope." Stone of Hope, the first for a non-president and the first for an African American, will be dedicated this weekend. Reporter Michael Ruane has been covering the creation of the memorial for the Washington Post.
