Fierce Battle outside Najaf, Plot to Kill Grand Ayotallah Foiled

After yesterday's 24-hour battle near the Shiite city of Najaf, more is being learned about the combatants and their objectives.  It's reported that they might have been trying to kill the Ayatollah Sistani , one of the Muslim world's most important clerics.  Liz Sly reports from Baghdad for the Chicago Tribune .
