Another Olympics in LA's Future?

Hosted by

In 1978, Mayor Tom Bradley signed an agreement for LA to host the Olympic Games in 1984. Bradley turned out to be right when LA held the only Olympics in history to turn a profit for the host city. Now Mayor Eric Garcetti says it can happen again in 2024. Boston has dropped out as America's first choice; it balked at the Olympic Committee demand that cost overruns be covered with taxpayer money. Garcetti says LA can afford it. Zev Yaroslavsky has just been termed out as County Supervisor. He was on the City Council in 1984.
